(Credit: Sarah Tew/CNET ) How good is the iPhone 5's call quality, and most importantly, how it does it compare across carriers? We addressed some of the iPhone 5's call quality in our CNET review and follow-up stories, but here let's take a listen to the Sprint, Verizon, and AT&T models side-by-side.
The IPhone 5's long-awaited LTE is still inconsisent, even across Verizon's network.
AT&T paid dearly for iPhone exclusivity that started in June 2007 and ran for nearly four years.
The most competitive iPhone deal doesn't come from Verizon, AT&T or even Sprint. It's from nTelos, a tiny regional carrier based in Virginia, which on Wednesday announced its bold bid to sell Apple's iconic smartphone at a discount.

The Verizon iPhone 4 was one of 2011's most hotly-anticipated smartphones, after years of the iPhone's AT&T exclusivity. And with the launch of the iPhone 4S in October, another major United States carrier was added to the iPhone's lineup: Sprint.
The iPhone 4S was the top selling smartphone at Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint last month, but Samsung carved out a healthy chunk of the market as well, says Canaccord Genuity.

Apple’s latest and greatest iPhone is the best-selling phone on AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint in the month of October. To add an exclamation mark to that last statement the iPhone 4S was released on October 14, so it out sold everyone else in half the given time.

Apple’s iPhone, soon on Sprint?
NEW YORK (Reuters) – Verizon Communications may have the iPhone, but the blockbuster smartphone has yet to pay off in its battle against AT&T Inc.
Apple’s iPhone has been exclusively with AT&T until recently and so a recent research note from an analyst that called for a fall in iPhone sales for Verizon in Q2 2011 raises a few questions. One would expect sales among Verizon customers to continue climbing with the end of AT&T’s exclusive contract. So what is happening?
Wal-Mart has cut the price on Apple’s Apple iPhone 4 down to $147 in “select stores” across the country on Monday, for a limited time. The price reduction is set to expire July 1 and affects the 16GB iPhone 4 in both AT&T and Verizon models and black or white colors (which normally sell for $199) and requires a 2-year-contract, a Wal-Mart spokeswoman said.
When the next iPhone debuts, the Verizon version will be a global phone, Verizon’s CFO has said.
