Apple & Nike: Bring their iPods to the gym!

06 Mar.

Apple and Nike have released the next update of the Nike+ rollout. Right now, Nike+ lets your iPod virtually talk to your shoes, but in the future your iPod will be able to talk to loads more things, such as: Stationary Bikes, Treadmills and other gym equipment.

Apple and Nike are apparantly also talking with gym equipment manufactures to include Nike+ functionality so their use can be tracked and recorded without the need to excessively modify the machine. It’s pretty simple to, when you start you plug your iPod into the machine and it will record everything you do so that you can upload and view it at a later time, and then you put it on the Nike+ site via iTunes.

Sure, it may seem a little geeky at first, but theres lots of positive feedback about Nike+ saying it does actually help with your fitness, give it a try!
