A new iPhone app has been released called ‘Outalot’ the concept of it is quite simple, all you do is tell Outalot where abouts you are and it will tell you the nearest restaurants, bars, and movie theaters, including show times. iPhone Production to Increase Majorly!

11 Apr.
Posted by admin in iPhone News | Comments Off

If the production plans are any indication, then it can be expected that Apple’s iPhone will see a huge boost in sales this year. Apple plans to produce 11 million iPhones this year, split between the current 2.5G phone, and the new 3G iPhone to be released in June. The production of the iPhone will be slowed in the first half of the year, then production is scheduled to dramatically increase in the third quarter after the introduction of the second generation iPhone, a year after its initial release.

This increase in production could turn out to be a gold mine for Apple and investors. If the production plans are correct, Bank of America analyst, Scott Craig, expects 8 million of the 11 million iPhones produced will be sold this year. Additionally, if the new 3G iPhone model is successful, Apple is looking at an additional $400 million in sales

China fully aware of iPhone

A recent report has said that more then 2 thirds of the consumer in China (the worlds largest mobile phone market) are fully aware of the iPhone, even though it has not been released there.

An online survey showed that out of a total 450 China consumers, almost 70% had known about the iPhone and exactly what it is and does.

Some companies in China have been releasing “iphone clones” for a fraction of the price of what a real iPhone would cost you in China (currently estimated to be around $500).

Blu-Ray movies directly to iPhone

BD Touch is a technology from NetBlender that lets your iPhone talk to your Blu-ray player over a WiFi connection. Essentially, it is just a set of tools which allow some fancy remote control of the player using the iPhone interface (including accelerometers), but the list of possibilities looks intriguing.

First, applications could be built to leverage the data from a Blu-ray player, building an iTunes like catalog of movies into the iPhone, for example, and offering title recommendations. Far more exciting though, is the possibility of sending movies direct from disk to the iPhone, ready to play. The demo video on the site is laughably fast, showing a transfer which takes just seconds (if you’ve ever compressed a regular DVD for use on an iPhone, you’ll know how ridiculous this is) but the idea is very attractive.

Blockbuster to launch Apple TV Rival

11 Apr.

Blockbuster, arguably one of the slower companies to innovate in the next-gen movie market, is developing a set-top device to rival the likes of Apple TV, The Hollywood Reports states.

The standalone branded gadget will stream films directly to TV sets and is expected to be announced “sometime” this month.

Apple’s Apple TV product received a revamp earlier this year in the face of disappointing sales while Blockbuster rival Netflix has been linked with LG in creating a similar device.

New 3G iPhone to be slimmer?

More next-gen iPhone tidbits today, with latest rumor on the block being from ‘industry sources’ who believe Apple will release two versions of the 3G iPhone at WWDC 2008, one with 8GB of storage and priced at $399 and another with 16GB priced at $499. According to TG Daily, it’s possible that a 32GB version could be introduced, with a $599 price point, but they couldn’t get that confirmed via their sources.

As for the devices themselves, apparently the 3G iPhone will be around 2.5mm thinner than the existing model, and have some minor case revisions that help stop the handset looking “plasticky”. Neither the GUI or software will be changed – although Firmware 2.0 will obviously be preinstalled, as the most recent Apple mobile OS – but the accelerometer has been “tuned”. The device still uses a non-removable battery.

Elsewhere in Apple’s range, TG Daily suggest that Apple are pricing the iPod Touch in parallel with the iPhone, the differentiating factor being that the PMP will have twice the memory of its cellphone counterpart.

Griffin ClearBoost for iPhone

1 Griffin ClearBoost for iPhone

In the vast, ever-expanding world of iPhone cases and films, it would be fair to say that 10% are merely decorative, 10% are solely protective, and the other 80% are designed to be some combination of the two. Until today, however, roughly zero cases have been designed to improve the iPhone’s core functionality, a number that increases to perhaps 3% if you count the few cases with integrated video stands. Griffin Technology’s ClearBoost ($35), therefore, is a major stand-out. Described by the company as an “antenna-boosting case,” which “improves reception as it protects your iPhone,” ClearBoost is the first iPhone case with an integrated, stub-like antenna at the top, as well as the first that measurably improves iPhone cell reception—under certain conditions.

Sorry about downtime!

Hey guys,

Sorry for the recent downtime, the current server I am hosted on has not been stable in the last few days, causing the server to go offline due to high server loads, it wasn’t actually down as such just refusing connections.

We may move servers shortly, however iPhoneYabber.com (our domain) was registered by one of my good friends who has had his net cut off for a while, so I don’t know what to do with DNS.

If I can’t get in contact with him, we may need to get a new name, i’ll try my hardest to get in contact with him though.

Will update everyone shortly.
